Once you have tested and installed your Maximo application you can relax, right?

Wrong! There are a number of things that typically change in a Maximo system over time, any of which can have a serious effect on scalability and performance.  First and foremost, as users become more proficient, they start to use Maximo in unanticipated ways. This includes the use of ‘shortcuts’, more complex searches, and specifying different report criteria. Any of these may place a different load on the Maximo

application and servers than originally expected.  The result is that response times for all users may creep up, or suddenly degrade, due to the behavior of some users.   Growth of and data range changes in Maximo database tables and indices can also affect performance; often resulting in a gradual degradation in response times for all or just certain transactions.

And what about patches and other updates, to operating system(s), infrastructure

technology, or Maximo itself, that may not be fully testable in a complex environment?  A seemingly innocuous patch has been known to significantly affect the stability and performance of a Maximo system.  The above examples are just a few of the reasons why Maximo’s response times can unpredictably degrade and/or the system becomes unstable. Your organization therefore needs to constantly monitor the performance of your Maximo installation if it is to continue to receive the benefits Maximo provides.
